Verizon's Call Filter service is designed to stop spam, but it can often "Silence" or "Terminate" legitimate automated calls. Follow these steps to "Allow" important numbers and ensure your alerts ring through every time.
Why are my calls missing?
Verizon uses a service called Call Filter that assigns a "Risk Level" to incoming calls. If an automated system is flagged as "Potential Spam," Verizon may label the call as "Maybe: Junk" and silence it, or prevent the call from ever reaching your device.
How to "Allow" a Number in the Call Filter App
To ensure a specific number is never blocked, you should add it to your "Allowed List":
Open the Verizon Call Filter app on your phone.
Tap the Block tab at the bottom of the screen.
Select Allowed from the top menu.
Tap Add New (+) / Allow a Number.
Enter the calling number (XXX-XXX-XXXX) and tap Allow Number.
Note: Free Call Filter users can add up to 5 numbers; Plus users can add more.
How to Change Your Spam Settings
If you don't want to add a specific number, you can lower the filter's sensitivity:
In the Call Filter app, go to Block > Filters.
Select Spam Filter.
Check your "Auto-block" settings. If it is set to block "All Spam Risk Levels," change it to "High Risk Only" or turn it OFF temporarily to test.
Check for "Neighborhood Spoofing" Filters
Verizon has a "Neighborhood Filter" that blocks calls similar to your own number. If the automated caller shares your area code or prefix, ensure the Neighborhood Filter is turned OFF in the app settings.
