How Contacts Opt-In to Text Messages

To comply with FCC regulations, contacts must provide explicit consent to receive text messages. CallingPost makes this process easy with several automated methods.

The Initial Confirmation

When you send your very first text to a contact through the CallingPost Short Code (24251), the system automatically prompts them to confirm.

  • The Action: The recipient must reply "OK" to start receiving your messages.

  • The Timeline: They can reply "OK" at any time; there is no expiration date on this invitation.

Proactive Opt-In Methods

You can encourage your members to join your list even before you send your first message. They can opt-in using these two methods:

  • By Phone: Call 877-304-5857 and follow the prompts.

  • By Text: Text the keyword "CPC" to 24251.

Managing Opt-Outs and Re-Subscribing

  • Opting Out: A member can stop receiving your messages at any time by texting "STOP" to 24251.

  • Re-Subscribing: If a member previously opted out but wants to join again, they must text "CPC" to 24251.

    • Note: The "CPC" command is a universal override that will reactivate their status even if they previously blocked messages.

Why is this required?

Federal regulations require that organizations have documented consent before sending automated text broadcasts. Using these methods ensures your organization remains compliant and helps maintain high delivery rates for your messages.

Tip: Include the phrase "Text CPC to 24251 to stay updated" on your signup forms or bulletins to grow your texting audience legally and quickly!
