Why Clear Cache & Cookies?

Sometimes, websites might not load correctly or look strange on your iPhone or iPad. This can happen because your Chrome browser saves old information called "cache" and "cookies." Clearing them often fixes these problems.

Before You Start:

  • Sign-in Backup: When you clear your cache and cookies, Chrome might sign you out of your Google Account. To make sure you can sign back in, double-check that your recovery phone number and email address are up to date.

How to Clear Cache & Cookies in Chrome (Step-by-Step):

  1. Open Chrome App: Open the Chrome app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Go to Clear Browsing Data:

    • Option 1 (Menu): Tap the three dots (More) at the bottom of the screen. Then, tap "History" and then "Clear Browsing Data."

    • Option 2 (Shortcut): If you have an external keyboard connected, press Command + Y.

  3. Choose Time Range: Select "All Time" to clear everything.

  4. Select What to Clear: Make sure "Cookies, Site Data" and "Cached Images and Files" are selected.

  5. Clear Data: Tap the red "Clear Browsing Data" button.

What to Expect After Clearing:

  • Sign in Again: You might need to sign in to websites again.

  • Slower Loading: Some websites might load a bit slower at first as images and other content reload.

What are Cache & Cookies?

  • Cookies: These are like small notes that websites leave on your device to remember things about you, like your login information or preferences.

  • Cache: This is where your browser stores parts of websites (like images) to help them load faster the next time you visit.
