How to Create a Group and Use a Text Keyword

Text keywords allow people to join your group instantly by texting a specific word to a designated number. This is the easiest way to grow your audience automatically.

How to Set Up a Keyword

You can assign a keyword to a group in two ways:

Option A: From the Text Keywords Menu

  • Navigate: Select Text Keywords from the left navigation menu.

  • Create: Click to add a new keyword.

  • Choose Your Word: Type your desired keyword (see tips below).

  • Attach to Group: Select the group from the dropdown menu where new members should be added.

  • Save: Finalize your settings.

Option B: From the Groups & Contacts Tab

  • Navigate: Go to Groups & Contacts and select your specific group.

  • Edit: Click the Edit Group button.

  • Assign Keyword: Locate the Text Keyword section, enter your unique word, and save.

Best Practices for Keywords

  • Keep it Simple: Use 4 to 32 characters. Stick to letters and numbers only; avoid special characters or spaces.

  • Make it Memorable: Choose words like "JOIN" or "COFFEE" that are easy for users to spell.

  • Test It: Grab your phone and text your keyword to 24251. You should receive an immediate auto-reply and see your number added to the group.

The Member Experience

  1. The Text: The user texts your keyword to the CallingPost shortcode: 24251.

  2. The Reply: They receive an automated welcome message immediately.

  3. The Profile: The message includes a non-editable link where the member can provide their name and email to complete their contact profile.

Promoting & Troubleshooting

  • Promotion: Include your keyword and the number 24251 on your website, social media, and printed marketing materials.

  • Troubleshooting: If the keyword isn't working, double-check the spelling and ensure it is being sent to 24251. If issues persist, contact CallingPost support.
