How to Create a Group and Use a Text Keyword

Text keywords make it easy for people to join your group simply by texting a word to a designated number. This guide will walk you through setting up a keyword for new or existing groups.

  1. Create new Group:

    Or-

    Navigate to Text Keywords: From the left navigation menu, click on "Text Keywords."

  2. Create a New Keyword: Click the button to create a new text keyword.

    • First Keyword: If this is your first keyword, you'll be prompted to create one.

    • Add Additional Keyword: If you already have a keyword, you'll see the option to add another.

  3. Enter the Keyword: Type the keyword you want to use.

    • Tips: Keep it short and simple (4 to 32 characters) with only letters and numbers. Avoid special characters.

  4. Attach to a Group: Select the group you want to attach the keyword to from the dropdown menu. New contacts who use this keyword will be automatically added to this group.

  5. Save: Click "Save" to finalize your keyword and its group assignment.


What Your Member Sees

When a member texts your keyword (e.g., "Coffee") to our number (24251), they will immediately receive an automated welcome message. This message will include a link where they can provide their name and email address to complete their contact information.

This link is automatically included in the auto-reply message and is not editable.

6. Test Your Keyword

After creating your keyword, it's essential to test it to ensure it's working correctly. Grab your mobile phone and text your keyword to CallingPost's short code (24251). You should receive the auto-reply message and be added to the designated contact group.

7. Promote Your Keyword

Now that your keyword is active, it's time to promote it! Include it in your marketing materials, on your website, in social media posts, and anywhere else you want to reach your target audience. Encourage people to text the keyword to 24251 to stay updated and connected.

Troubleshooting:

  • Keyword Not Working: Double-check the spelling and length of your keyword. Make sure you are texting it to the correct short code (24251). If you're still having trouble, contact CallingPost support.
